Put up your Dukes in Muskoka Canada

Ξ February 6th, 2009 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Historic Muskoka, In and Around Muskoka Ontario, On the Water, Tripin around Towns |

Things looked a little quiet and bleak when I passed by Dukes in Port Carling recently. Dukes is a historic place in Muskoka with a long history of classic boat building. I had a chance to tour the facility last year and witnessed the restoration of some old Ditchburns and Minett-Shields classic woodies. They  occasionally  have an open house for the public and if you get the chance I highly recommend you take the opportunity to step back in time.

Looks as though they are closed for the season! :0)
What a contrast between Duke Marine Services and the wonderful blue place across the water…

By the way why is the water open and not covered with ice and snow???
    Cheers

    Hi Heather
Dukes is located right beside the Port Carling locks. There is a fair bit of water that runs off from Lake Rosseau into Lake Muskoka creating a steady current preventing the water from freezing over.
