I just visited a friend's cousin in the Muskoka area and to my surprise, there was a pileated woodpecker eating from a dead tree. I screamed with excitement and that bird did not flinch. I had been dying to see one for years. This was an amazing experience and the owners thought nothing of it as it is a regular to the tree. It stayed for at least 1/2 hour then we went inside and left it pecking at the tree.
